Flight Training Grant

My neighbor went down to the FBO, and asked about scholarships. To his surprise they had one. All he had to do was write an essay about why he wanted to become a pilot.
It was my pleasure this evening to call Joe and congratulate him, and to call Rachel and Kyle and make them aware of our decision. I encouraged both Rachel and Kyle to maintain contact with the Chapter, to visit with us, to fly with us and to extend their interests in aviation and in achieving their pilots license. Joe will join us at the Chapter Hangar Sunday during the Air Show, where we will introduce him to the Flight School staff.
“Our Flying with Adversity program exemplifies the mission of “Inspiring the Pilots of Tomorrow” better than any,” says Cimiluca. “Nearly every pilot has a story of something he or she needed to overcome to achieve the dream of Flight. Still there are untold thousands who live with additional hurdles to overcome – physical, financial or other reasons that may add on to the challenge.
This year, by teaming up with Dan Buchanan, who has overcome his own challenges, CSA hopes to showcase these efforts with the simple message that a wheelchair and a pilot’s seat are not mutually exclusive. The dream of Flight is one to be shared.” In addition to Dan Buchanan, this year’s speakers include members of the Greatest Generation and Viet Nam Veterans, Dr. Joshua Wurman from the Discovery Channel’s Storm Chasers, Astronaut Dale Gardner, Wing Walker Ashley Battles, Col. Fitzroy “Buck” Newsome of the Tuskegee Airmen, Andrew McKenna of TIGHAR, Brian Richardson of the Federal Aviation Administration, and Daril Cinquanta of the Rocky Mountain Aviation Center.
However, an equally common mistake for those new to Grant writing is to think that they are not likely to obtain a Grant because they don’t know anything about how to write a Grant. The fact is that many good ideas do not receive funding because a Grant proposal is never written. Our own Grant procedures are very simple and flexible.
We have given many Grants to first-time Grant authors. We do not expect or want elaborate proposals, so if you think your idea fits our objectives, please do send us a proposal.

Announcement: Red Bird Flight Training Equipment Co. Red Bird FMX full motion flight training device. This is the first flight training device that combines full-motion, control loading, worldwide terrain databases, and more than 200 degree visual system in a package that is cost effective for initial flight training.
This is a new technology that has the potential to change the way flight training is conducted. Why IMG_0230_Desktop_Resolution.JPG: Simulators save time, money and secure the aircraft for flight training. How: This is also an excellent VFR simulator. Simulator VFR to be more realistic then IFR simulator, because the VFR flying by feel and visual clues. Simulators are certified for IFR. This device will do a great job as coach of the IFR, and must be able to simulate the toolbars and heritage to the future with G430/530, G500/G600G1000 equipment. It is also approved for the renewal of instrument ratings. Why use a simulator. * Normal flight training in an airplane is very inefficient. For example, if you have problems with flare, you have to do a walk, start, run up, take off, fly 6 minutes for each circuit 15 seconds flare and touch the practice of student needs. In the sim, all you have to do is set up on plane 1 / 4 mile final approach and landing to fly, and returns to 1 / 4 mile, over and over again until you get it. The same sharp turns, stalls, spins, (excluding commuting to training ground) That in itself saves ‘ Video Rating: 5 / 5.

John Frasca has served as the company’s Vice President since 2003 and has gradually taken over more of his father’s duties in recent years as Rudy and his wife Lucille enjoyed semi-retirement and spending time with their grandchildren. John has worked for the family-owned company since 1972, when he began performing various tasks around the factory after school. John studied Electrical Engineering at the University of Illinois and was instrumental in directing the technical evolution of Frasca flight trainers from the pioneering mechanical analog designs developed by his father into the modern digital electronic designs that dominate the world’s pilot training market today.
Promoted to Vice President of Operations in 1986, John Frasca has been responsible for the day-to-day operations of the company for the past 25 years and has overseen its transition from a small specialty manufacturer of general aviation oriented training devices to one of the world’s premier flight simulator suppliers.
The two STDs will be the first Frasca devices sold to and installed in Russia. They will feature Frasca’s newest technology including TruVision Global visual system, Graphical Instructor Station (GISt), Electric Control Loading, Digital Sound and more. They will be outfitted with Jeppesen Navigational Database and Garmin G1000, GFC700 Autopilot, Garmin Audio panel, Garmin WAAS and more to simulate the C172 aircraft.
They will be qualified as FNPT II STDs (Simulated Training Devices).
Frasca International manufactures Flight Training Equipment for airlines, flight schools and military organizations worldwide. Founded in 1958, Frasca has delivered over 2,300 devices to over 70 countries. Frasca International was founded in 1958 by Rudy Frasca.
According to John Frasca, Vice President of Frasca International, ‘We developed the Mentor as a Part Task Trainer to support the new generation of integrated avionics such as the Garmin G1000. We felt that a part task trainer could be of value to the training industry. As the project matured it became apparent that the Mentor was a very capable Flight Simulator.
We now see that the Mentor can fill a wide range of training requirements and as result are extending the Mentor product line to include conventional instrumentation. ‘.

August 21, 2001 Walid Arkeh, a Jordanian serving time in a Florida prison, is interviewed by FBI agents after warning the government of an impending terrorist attack. He had been in a British jail from September 2000 to July 2001, and while there had befriended three inmates, Khalid al-Fawwaz, Adel Abdel Bary and Ibrahim Eidarous. US prosecutors charge that ‘the three men ran a London storefront that served as a cover for al-Qaeda operations and acted as a conduit for communications between bin Laden and his network.’ Al-Fawwaz was bin Laden’s press agent in London, and bin Laden had called him over 200 times before al-Fawwaz was arrested in 1998.
The other two had worked in the same office as al-Fawwaz. All three have been indicted as co-conspirators with bin Laden in the 1998 US embassy bombings (see August 7, 1998). Arkeh tells the FBI that he had learned from these three that ‘something big was going to happen in New York City,’ and that they had called the 1993 attack on the WTC ‘unfinished business.’ Tampa FBI agents determine that he had associated with these al-Qaeda agents, but nonetheless they don’t believe him. According to Arkeh, one agent responds to his ‘something big’warning by saying: ‘Is that all you have. That’s old news.’ The agents fail to learn more from him. On September 9, concerned that time is running out, a fellow prisoner tried to arrange a meeting, but nothing happens before 9/11. The Tampa FBI agents have a second interview with him hours after the 9/11 attacks, but even long after 9/11 they claim he cannot be believed. On January 6, 2002, the Tampa FBI issued a statement: ‘The information vetted to FBI New York, the Acting Special Agent in Charge of the Tampa Division and the United States Attorney for the Middle District of Florida. All agreed the information provided by this individual was vague and unsubstantiated’ Mr. Arkeh did not provide information that had any bearing on the FBI preventing September 11. ‘ However, a different group of FBI agents interviews him later and finds his information is credible (see May 21-22, 2002). See for more on this topic.

The laughter from the rest of the flight drowned out his threats. If he made it through another patrol without going west in a blue on blue, my middle name wasn’t ‘vindictive’. With that cheering thought, I kicked myself into a classic Immelmann, apart from the lateral twitches and the inversion I tacked on the end, to finish up looking down on my final opponent’s cockpit.
The look on his face was priceless as I vectored my thrusters to place myself nose down and shot him in the head point blank. Actually I shot him in the cockpit as the quad blasters up front don’t do narrower than a metre. With a happy whoop I handed my ship back to itself, told it to return to limp mode and rejoin the flight.

If you have passed your exam, your instructor can then recommend you to take a flight test. These are the steps that you need to take if you wish to become a pilot.
The film has an intriguing cast – near-legend Hal Holbrook, Academy Award winner Christine Lahti, Cary Elwes (Glory, The Princess Bride, The X-Files), and Maggie Grace (Lost, Taken) at the top – that brings to life the story of Sophie (Grace)’s return home to the messy relationships of her past. As she tries to put the pieces back together, Sophie bonds with Harry (Holbrook), who suffers from Alzheimer’s Disease and understands her difficulties looking back.
As many casino companies scale back expansion plans, SugarHouse’s bang-up inaugural year has paved the way for growth. Pennsylvania’s smallest casino’Hamilton calls it ‘the little engine that could”could soon double in size, adding several dozen new tables and hundreds of new slots, along with four restaurants, a poker room, a second-floor banquet center and a six-story parking garage. The expansion, which is expected to begin next summer and be complete by late 2013, would bring SugarHouse nearer to its originally planned size, which was modified when the recession crumpled the capital market.
The expansion would also add hundreds of additional permanent jobs. Applicants for those jobs may face an unorthodox interview process. Imagine facing a panel of hiring bosses during a tough economy in a challenged industry and being asked, ‘What would you rather have: a million dollars, or the ability to fly.’ That’s one of the questions Hamilton and company asked past interviewees’and while there was no right or wrong answer, the question was not wholly whimsical, and the answer was not insignificant. Why is it that those who want to get their cosmetology license and those that would like to be nurses can get all the funding in the world’ but a pilot has to fund his own training out of pocket. They wonder why many accidents are attributed to pilot error and that they receive substandard training, when in all reality a pilot funds his own training, often accruing upwards of 60k in debt’.

“We have seasoned, experienced active and reserve-component aviators today, with combat experience. We’ve got to sustain that with an Army that will not be at war like we are today,” Crutchfield said. “We must make sure we know what our future adversaries can exploit in our formations and in our equipment and we know the Army is changing as we speak and Army Aviation has to change with it because Army Aviation doesn’t exist for its own worth, it exists to support the United States Army and the goals of the nation.”.

Tyler, I think you have raised a very pertinent issue. I do not understand why any airline would not want to make itself more attractive to customers by becoming more sustainable, resource efficient, and more cost effective to attract more customers. Having a smaller impact on the environment, and being lean and green throughout your business chain will generate more business and profits.
I would have thought the more innovative, creative and responsible airlines would see the EU ETS charges as an opportunity rather than a threat. What an incentive to generate Triple Bottom Line business benefits across their whole operations and become part of the People, Planet, Profits sustainable economy. Looking at their whole operations (air and ground) as well as the biofuel issue could bring $bns of through-life savings and be fantastic for their CSR and PR image. No brainer really. On the ‘charge for extra baggage and volume/weight’ angle, if charging for extra baggage is a fuel/emissions issue, why don’t airlines give refunds to those with less than the average baggage allowance or allow passengers to ‘trade’ their allowances. Seems rather hypocritical and one-sided to charge for extra weight and volume but not give credit the other way ‘ lose lose for the passengers yet again. Read more on Aviation
Thank you for signing the petition “Take Aviation User Fees Off the Table.” We appreciate your participation in the We the People platform on WhiteHouse.gov and your concerns about user fees in a challenging economy. In a challenging budget environment, the Obama Administration believes it’s essential that those who benefit from our world-class Aviation system help pay for its ongoing operation. And we want to ensure that everyone is paying their fair share.
For example, under current law, a large commercial aircraft flying from Los Angeles to San Francisco pays between twenty-one and thirty-three times the fuel taxes paid by a corporate jet flying the same route and using the same FAA air traffic services. This is why the Administration proposed to establish a new surcharge for air traffic services.

When one is cruising over the ground at hundreds of miles an hour and thousands of feet in the air it is not the right time to have to think about what to do when things go wrong. That kind of preparedness and vigilance requires a great deal of discipline and knowledge. For crew members, an aviation Flight School is the source of that skill level, and must be carefully selected.
The graduation ceremony of the IAF Flight Academy took place today in the Hatzerim IAF Base. SportPilotTalk.com is the discussion forum for sport pilots and light-sport aircraft. The FAA’s new rule, in effect since September 2004, created a new pilot certificate dubbed the “sport pilot” that makes learning to fly easier and more affordable that ever before. The new rule also created a new category of aircraft – light sport aircraft – which has introduced a new fleet of modern, affordable sport aircraft.

It may take diligence and patience to identify and apply for Financial aid for your helicopter funding, but it is worth it. Be sure to speak with your flight school about options provided through the school. Additionally, you can save money by replacing in-person ground instruction with a home-study course and only paying the schools for the actual flight instruction.

Fun once you’ve downloaded the three disks. There are over 5,000 Airports, 30 planes plus three if you buy The Gold Version, and Loads of Missions to fly. My Favorite Feature is Free Play.
You can take off from your Hometown Airport or any other and vist landmarks like The Egyption Pyramids, The Leaning Tower of Pisa, and Niagra Falls. You can download any plane you want online like UFO’s, Futureristic Fliying Cars, and my favorite, a Thunder Bird version F-16. I love this game. Make sure you buy a controler like A Saitek X52 joystick and throttle. This game is unplay able witout one.
So, overall, I got what I wanted. I was very disappointed that MS decided to dumb down the Flight physics even more than in FS9. Lot’s of silly things too: For example, the left turning tendency is pronounced in a single engine propellor aircraft.
This is caused by Torque, P-Factor, Gyroscopic precession and slipstream. Why do the 2 and 4 engine Commercial Jets in FSX also require heavy right rudder on take-off. They are immune to these forces. (They don’t have props.) Stalls are so subtle and gentle as to be pointless, FSX wings never drop and full recovery is possible without relieving back pressure on the stick. FSX Planes will not spin, even when forced into cross-controlled Flight. It’s impossible to get the spin started and spin recovery; one of the most important basic Flight skills to master, is impossible to properly simulate in FSX. Forward slips don’t work properly and the glide ratios (at least for 172′s) are ridiculously exaggerated (maybe I’m flying really ‘dirty’ planes in real life.). I was also disappointed that there are no physics included to simulate the F-18 breaking the sound barrier.

Unlike instrument recovery training, aerobatic flight training teaches pilots to rely on their senses during upset attitudes when the horizon is discernible. While aerobatic flight technically focuses on aerobatic maneuvers that most of us would never employ, it also teaches us how to perform aerobatic maneuvers that aid in recovery from upset attitudes, as well as teaches us what maneuvers to avoid in certain aircraft. Indeed, what we usually hear described as ‘pilot error’ would often be better described as ‘pilot ignorance’.
A tremendous number of crashes result from nothing more than making the wrong maneuver in a certain aircraft, and as many more result from taking the wrong recovery actions during non-error situations. Whether you pilot an airliner or a Cessna, knowing what maneuvers to avoid and what maneuvers to perform during upset attitudes can mean the difference between life and death. .
One important example of how we embrace external oversight and seek assistance to insure that we are following the industry best practices is with our EMS mission. Because we are a government agency and therefore do not charge for our services, we do not fall under Part 135. However, we reached out to the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Services (CAMTS), and requested an audit of our program.
CAMTS now audits our program every 2 years. We realize that we can never receive accreditation since we are not a Part 135 operation, but we still want to insure an outside review of our EMS operations so that potential issues are identified by an independent entity. Additionally we reach out to the FAA through our local FSDO on a regular basis to work with us regarding both our certificated and non-certificated aircraft, even though they have no official oversight on non-certificated aircraft. Again we attempt to seek input from outside entities as a review and validation of our operation. Read more on Flight Safety Training
According to FTS Committee Chair Steve Lasday, ‘The focus of attention from the media, manufacturers, training organizations, civil aviation regulatory authorities, and the public is shifting in a major way onto Flight training. It’s time for us to take an intelligent and proactive stance regarding initiatives that could have a significant impact on general aviation.’ Lasday continued, ‘Although a number of larger schools already incorporate some form of safety management into their operations, general aviation as a whole has lagged way behind other segments of the aviation industry.’ The goal is to generate deliverables that are flexible enough for even the smallest Flight or maintenance operation to adopt.

Following the FAA’s recent announcement urging all commercial operators to begin incorporating “Enhanced Upset Recovery Training”, jetAVIVA and the Tutima Academy are demonstrating their dedication to safety by expanding this recommendation to light jet operators. A recent NASA study demonstrated that Loss of Control (LOC) scenarios continue to outpace other factors as the leading cause of fatal accidents in the last 20 years. To help combat LOC accidents, the course covers LOC scenarios and aerodynamics with a specific emphasis on LOC psychology.
The three day course utilizes the highly capable Extra 300L and Pitts S2B/C, giving pilots the ability to experience all flight attitudes and to test the edges of the aerodynamic envelope in a safe and structured environment under the guidance of some of the world’s top aerobatic instructors.
